- Enjoy the charm of the west Sagami road (through the towns of Manazuru, Yugawara, Hakone and Odawara) taking in the rich culture, history and autumn scenery of the surrounding mountains, rivers and sea
- Have fun and enjoy many special opportunities to explore Odawara through the Arukon event. Children can also the educational course and explore the park of the Odawara Castle Ruins.
- As an official event of the Japan Marching League, we welcome everyone and hope you can join.

Educational walking course The fee for the educational walking course is 1500yen per pair. The representative (adult) at the time of applying should enter in the details of the accompanying participant. (This option will only apply to the representative entering the educational walking course) (1) For those general participants entering the 18 Nov (Sat) event, including groups, upon display of your race number at the registration desk you may enter the educational walking course for free. Please register for the option of 18 Nov (Sat) (general entrants) AND the 19 Nov (Sun) educational walking course at the same time. If the accompanying person for the educational walking couse is also participating in the 18 Nov (Sat) event, a separate registration must be applied for the 18 Nov (Sat) event. Therefore those wishing to do only the 18 Nov (Sat) event should select the option 18 Nov (Sat) only. (2) For groups entering the Educational walking course only on 19 Nov (Sun), please select the option 19 Nov (Sun) Educational walking course only.

Other informationAppplications received by 29 September (Fri) (ie those who have completed payment and registered by internet, phone, or fax) will appear in the event guidebook. Those who have entered the Arukon or the kids castle exploration walk events will not be listed in the guidebook.

What to bring:Bento (lunch), drink, health insurance card, rain gear, cup (water stations will be available along the course, but no cups provided, please BYO cup for water refill)
Lunch will not be provided or available. All participants are to bring and prepare their own lunch.
Additional informationIn the case of rain, provided it is not too heavy, the event will still go ahead.
However depending on the weather, course routes may be subject to change.
Car parking informationPlease note that there are no carpark facilities. Please use public transport.
Shuttle busOdawara station west exit - a shuttle bus will be available for event participants

Departures will be at anytime. Direct shuttle to the start venue.
Due to the limited number of shuttle buses, the shuttle bus service may end before 7:30am.

Odawara course
[Start/finish]: Odawara Casle Park Domon Square Odawara 30km course (Kozu and Soga mountain course, overlooking Sagami Bay): For advanced participants
This is a long distance course overlooking Sagami Bay and crosses the peaceful countryside and the Kozu and Soga mountain range passing through the Ashigara Plain.

Odawara 20km (A walking course taking in the rivers and breeze of the wind with views of Fuji)
This is an easy flat walking course which takes in the majestic views of Mount Fuji. The course will pass through the tranquil Chiyoda countryside, alongside the sakura river and towards the Izumi Kannon statue.

Odawara 10km course (Odawara castle fortress taking in the Sengoku era)
Walk through the Odawara Castle fortress taking in the history of the Sengoku era, historical sites and cultural assets.

Odawara 6km course (Educational course: literature and history trail)

Hakone Course
Start: Hakone-en Finish: Odawara Castle Park Domon Square
Hakone 20km course (follows the Hakone Road Course on the Old Road to Tenchi). Aimed at advanced walkers
Starting from Hakone Checkpoint, the course will pass through the cobbled streets of the Old Tokaido Road going from Hatajuku to Yumoto. This course is recognised as one of the top 500 beautiful Japanese walking trails (No. 10).
The cobbled pavement may be slippery so please watch your footing.
In the case of rain, the cobbled pavement section may be re-routed. (It may be possible to transfer to a different course on the day).

Odwara Course
[Start/finish]: Odawara Casle Park Domon Square
Course detail
Odawara 30km course (Majestic hilly course on the west side, passing through Ninomiya Takanori). For advanced walkers
This is a long distance walk starting from Ishigakiyama Castle to over the westernhill range and to the Sontoku Memorial museum. This walk is recognised as one of the top 500 beatuiful walks in Japan (No. 11)
Odawra 20km course (Taikoichiya course, Hayakawa and Kataura course). For advanced walkers.
This course from the Ishigakiyama castle passes through the Ishibashi battlegrounds and takes in the scenery of the Kataura coastline and the Oriental Riviera.
Odawara 10km course (Follow in the footsteps of historical figures and cityscape course)
Follow in the footsteps of great historical figures from the Meji and Showa era and learn about the industrial culture surrounding the Odawara station precinct.
Odawara 6km course (slow and leisurely family course)
An easy short distance course suitable for anyone including young children and disabled people.
A disabled toilet will be available.

Manazuru / Yugawara course
Start: Manazuru Junior High School Finish: Odawara Castle Park Domon Square

Course details
Manazuru/Yugawara 20km course (take in the sea breeze of thhe Manazuri Cape and the fragrance of mandarins from the Yugawara mountains)
A course rich in natures blessed by the surrounding sea and mountains along the Manazuru Peninsula
Finally, get on the train from Yugawara station and alight at Odawara station. The finish will be aim at the Odawara Castle Park Domon Square
Sekkaku WalkPre-event walk: Sekkaku course (10km)
Date: 17 Nov (Fri)
Meeting place: Odawara Castle Park Domon Square
Time: Marshalling time 12:000 / Start 12;30
Entry fee: JPY300
Content: This ia a collective group pre-walk for those who will participate in the City March. The walk course theme is Kitahara Hakushu)
Arukon (Walk Meet)This walk event will be held over the consecutive days. A collobaration project combining walking and community-based marriage (singles mixer event).
Dates: 18 Nov (Sat), 19 Nov (Sun)
Content: A 6km course which will be followed by a singles party dinner at a restaurant in Odawara city. (Last year's coupling rates was 44%).
Entry deadline: 15 Nov (Wed) Entries may close earlier if capacity is reached

Education walk: Kids Castle Exploration walkEvent date: 19 Nov (Sun) 12:00noon start
Registration desk: 11:30am (Registration will take place at Ninomaru Square and the marshalling area will be at Domon Square
Entry fee: 1 family group entry is JPY 1500
Eligibility criteria: Preschool children and parents (a family group consisting of 3 members)
Entry limit: Limited to the first 100 groups on a first come first basis. If capacity is not reached, it may be possible to enter on the day
General entrans and group participants who have entered the City March on 18 Nov (Sat) may enter for free upon presentation of their entry bib race number at the registration desk

Terms and conditionsParticipants are responsible for the management of their health and only participate if they are in good health condition. In the case of an accident during the event, the event organisers will not be responsible for insurance compensation or anything else beyond initial first aid response. If you have an existing medical condition, please seek permission from your doctor.
In the event of an accident such as a natural disaster, severe weather, or outbreak of an epidemic disease, the event may be cancelled. If the event is cancelled, no refunds will be given for entry fees. Compensation will not be provided for expenses such as transportation and accommodation expenses, or certificates. In addition, the event organiser will decide whether to mail out the event materials. (In the case of the event being cancelled after the first day has started, participation/completion certificates may be issued. But if the decision is made to cancel before any events being commenced, participation/completition certificates will not be issued.
