- The race is held in conjunction with a SUP (Stand Up Paddle) race which has increased in popularity in recent years.
In addition to the open water swim race, a race of Stand up paddle (SUP) race option is also available. Race venue is located at Moriya beach in Katsuura city, Chiba prefecture, about a 3 hour train ride from central Tokyo.
In the open water swim category, there is the choice of a 1km or 3km individual swim. It is possible to enter in both. The average water temperature at this time of year is approx. 21 degrees celcius. Wetsuits are mandatory. In th SUP category there is a choice of 1km individual event or 800m x 2-person relay. On the day there will be snorkeling and SUP trial activities.
Moriya beach is one of the top 100 beautiful beaches recognised by the Ministry of Environment for its beauty and water clarity. It is famous for its transparent emerald green coloured waters.
