| PR | You maybe ask yourselves why of all things you should start at the Cologne Marathon? It is impossible and also not necessary to compare all big city marathons. Each of them has its own attractions - and this is how it should be! None of the organizers can handle the thousands of active marathoners at once! Even the Cologne Marathon cannot ...! But what makes the Cologne Marathon unique and outstanding? We offer all of you the adequate competition! It does not matter whether you are a running amateur or experienced marathoner, an offspring talent or competitive athlete, an individualist or member of a team. When you would like to be part of our event, come and join us - we care about you! However, nonetheless it is something special and exquisite: Here not only arouse the top athletes cheering enthusiam among the spectators. Spread along the entire course and particularily at the numerous hot spots the several hundred thousands of motivated spectators let explicitly the slower and \"more comfortable\" runners feel being in the focus of a marathon day in Cologne. It is not only the records and peak performances that are fully celebrated by the viewers with body and soul, but also the more emotional scenes with legs sometimes twitching and people fighting with themselves to overcome the symptoms of endurance running. | Entry requirements, limits and registration fee | You must be at least 18 years of age on race day (birthday in 1995 and older) and possess an official bib number and a chip. The limit for participants is a maximum of 10,000 runners. Please note that, due to a strict timeframe, you are to complete the competition within a gross time of 6:00 hours. Otherwise you will be taken off the course and brought to the finish area by bus. The course has to be re-opened then for public traffic according to City of Cologne guidelines. You are to pay the following registration fees depending on the time period you register: Period Amount through December 31, 2012 EUR 55.00 through March 31, 2013 EUR 65.00 through June 30, 2013 EUR 75.00 through September 27, 2013 EUR 85.00 late entries at the Köln Marathon Expo EUR 99.00 Group registrations (as of January 2013) of at least 10 persons reduce the registration fee per person to the rate of the previous period. | Registration and deadline | Just register easily and comfortably online on official web site. You will immediately receive an email confirmation. An additional official email confirmation of participation containg the last important information will in September 2013. The online registration will be closed on September 27, 2013 (as long as the participant limit is not reached). |
| Marathon expo and bib numbers | The Köln Marathon Expo located in the Koelnmesse offers diverse novelties from the fields of running, inline skating, fitness, cyclling, wellness, and health. You may also be provided with information on latest trends and products and you may talk to experts. The event is free and the public is welcome. Please pick up your race packets here. Our opening hours (may be subject to change): Friday, October 11, 2013: 10 a. m. to 8 p. m. Saturday, October 12, 2013: 9 a. m. to 7 p. m. By presenting the official confirmation or personal ID the race packets may be collected at the corresponding desks at the Köln Marathon Expo only. Bib numbers Startnummer-LogoBib numbers will be allocated automatically after your registration, included in the email confirmation and then published in the starters’ list in the internet. In the online registration you may choose your personally preferred bib number within a defined bib number range for EUR 2.00 per person – as long as the number is not allocated yet. You will be handed out a one-piece coloured bib number for the corresponding starting block (e. g. red bib number = red starting block). Make sure you fill in the form on the reverse side for possible medical treatment and pin your race number in breast height on the front of your jersey/t-shirt using the pins provided in the bag. If you wear a race number belt please look for a visible pinning on your stomach. Disguising, concealing, or deviating the sponsors bar also leads to immediate disqualification! |
| Chronometry | Chronometry is exclusively carried out by Mika timing with the RealTime ChampionChip. You must wear a chip to get an official finishing time! In case you do not have an own chip you may rent one on bail for race day. In order to enable a careless arrival without any cash money we will charge your account with the rental fee already at the time of your registration. Participants with a German bank account are to pay a rental fee of EUR 6.00 per person. With the signature on the registration form or the acceptance of the General Terms and Conditions in the online registration you further entitle us to charge your bank account with the remaining purchase price of EUR 25.00 in the case of non-return on race day prior to 6 p. m. The chip is bought then and may be re-used at other competitions. Foreigners without any German bank account are to pay a rental fee of EUR 10.00 for a single-use chip which may be used on race day in Cologne only. Please return this chip after the event as it is considered special waste.Please fasten your ChampionChip in the lacing of your shoe or skate and your hand cycle respectively. Make sure that you overrun all chronometry mats along the course. Lacking interval times may cause in disqualification. |
| Kit bag drop-off/pick-up and showers | The kit bag drop-off may be found on Mindener Straße in Deutz near the start and the pick-up will be in the new post-finish area on Gereonstraße/Unter Sachsenhausen next to Cologne Cathedral. The bags will be shuttled. Showers with warm water are also available in the finish area. |

| Disqualification | Our race will be organized according to IAAF and DLV guidelines and specification of the organizing institution. A violation of these provisions will directly lead to disqualification, i. e.: starting without any bib number starting in the wrong starting block ahead, to be monitored via chronometry! alteration of the bib number such as concealing or deviating the sponsors bar starting without any RealTime ChampionChip starting with more than one RealTime ChampionChip lacking interval times exceeding the given time limit (gross time!) abandoning or shortening the track undershooting the required age carrying along baby buggies, baby joggers etc. carrying along animals accompanying on bikes, inline skates etc. |
| Certificates, awards and special scorings | All participants finishing within the gross time limit will obtain a medal. The on-stage ceremony awards of the three fastest female and male athletes as well as of the female and male Cologne city champions will be held directly after their finish in the finish area. Furthermore, we will award the age class winners some weeks after the event. Preliminary certificates will automatically be sent to your email address stated in your registration. Further, you may download this certificate in the internet with a click on your name in the result list and print it. A final and official certificate including elapsed time and overall scoring will be available in the internet approximately two weeks after the event (expiring the period for objection). We are going to assort the ensuing special scorings. Please consider the entirely identical spelling of company and club names in the registrations.
