The ”NAHA Marathon” has now become one of Japan’s leading sporting events. It began in 1985 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the sister city agreement between Naha City and Honolulu, Hawaii, as a ”festival of the sun, sea, and joggers.” Since then, every year, the circle of inspiration and friendship among joggers has grown. The 42.195km course passes through five southern cities and towns-Naha City, Haebaru Town, Yaese Town, Itoman City, and Tomigusuku City-centered around the Peace Memorial Park.

| Runner's Guide |
We have received many complaints that "some runners cut in line at the start, which is poor manners." To prevent accidents at the start and to ensure that all runners can run comfortably, please line up according to the instructions of the officials and in the order of your athlete bibs before the start.
1.On the day of the marathon, traffic restrictions will be in place for an extended period along the course thanks to the cooperation of many people, including local residents. When the restrictions are lifted, runners should remove their athlete bibs, follow the instructions of the officials, and promptly clear the course by boarding the dropout bus or similar.
2.Runners must stay within the designated lane (course). Under no circumstances should they stray onto the sidewalk or into another lane.
*If the course is on one lane, the oncoming lane is extremely dangerous due to the movement of vehicles.
3.Runners should run at their own pace, but if you choose a slower pace, please run closer to the sidewalk side of the course. Those running in groups should also stay as close to the sidewalk as possible to avoid taking up too much space. (Please do not obstruct runners coming from behind.)
4.Runners should dispose of used cups, sponges, etc., on the sidewalk side of the course so as not to obstruct runners coming from behind. Absolutely do not throw them into fields or houses along the course.
5.This tournament is made possible by the generosity of our sponsors. Please do not fold or conceal the sponsor information on your athlete bibs. |
