For the theme of this event, we encourage you to taste the original menus at each place in the Ichihino Onsen area. Enjoy the specially chosen and prepared cuisine and the variety of Satsuma Shochu. You can also enjoy a walking course with views of ”Maruyama” which is a symbol of Ichihino Onsen. Walk, eat and then soothe yourself in what Lord Hisamitsu Shimazu called the ”Hot Spring of Heaven” which is also said to be a ”Bijin-no-yu” （hot spring of beauty）.

| What is ONSEN Gastronomy Walking？ | ONSEN・Gastronomy Tourism is a new tourism that introduces the charm of hot spring resorts in Japan by walking and experiencing the food, nature, culture and history of local areas. We open this event, ONSEN Gastronomy Walking, to enjoy a stroll through the beauty of hot spring areas, to experience our history and nature, to taste local foods and beverages, and finally to soak in a soothing hot spring at the end of the tour. |

| Scenic point | 1）［Maruyama］ Mount Maruyama is well-known in Ichihino and throughout the area. A fairy named ”Futodon” is said to have scooped out the earth with a bowl and the sunken spot is now Imuta-ike (Imuta Lake). As the name suggests, the area covered by dirt is Maruyama (Round Mountain) which has a distinguished dome shape. 2）［Michi-no-eki (Roadside Station) Yuyu-kan］ Free foot bath and drinkable hot spring water are available for your convenience. 3）［Tanokan-saa］ Jizo, a god of rice fields in Wada, wishing for good harvest. 4）［Ichihino Elementary School］ Previously the residence of the village headman, Ono Elementary School was established in 1876 .The name was changed to Onojinjyo Elementary School and then to Suwajinjyo Elementary School. After a middle school was adjoined, it became Ichihino Elementary School in 1921. 5）［Ishikura・Onsen street・Back street］ Enjoy a slow walk on small streets with old-fashioned spa areas and a stone-built warehouse where tobacco leaves were stored long ago. 6）［Midori-ya Ryokan・Yosano Akiko Monument］ Yosano Akiko and her husband, Tekkan, are said to have visited the Onsen and read poetry in this legendry Japanese inn. Her monument stands near by. 7）［Haraguchi Tofu］ The only tofu shop in Ichihino where tofu is made using traditional equipment and recipes. The shop's firm, textured tofu is very popular. 8）［Kyodo-kan］ (Folk Museum) An interesting place with not only the history of Ichihino, but also exhibitions and information about people from olden time, their lifestyles, and the tools they used. |

| Information on hot springs | During the Edo period, Lord Mitsuhisa Shimazu called the hot spring that gushes out of Shizuki Mountain the ”Fountain of Heaven” and he provided bathtubs for people to use. The simple alkaline water from the hot spring flows continuously from underground into the tubs. The water makes your skin soft and smooth so it is called ”Bijin-no-yu” （hot spring of beauty）. A bath ticket will be given to all participants. |
