Dear Athletes, At the break of dawn on the full moon Friday of January, thousands of athletes and their supporters will once again stand on the clear water shores of the Red Sea, ready to challenge their limits on one of the toughest triathlon races in the world – Israman. Those of you who have participated in the Israman in the past know that this race, with its challenging course and unstable weather, isn’t like any other race. Not surprisingly the Israman’s reputation and international recognition keeps growing year after year. What began in 1999 – as an intimate competition with only a few athletes, has grown and developed, quantitatively and qualitatively, to become one of the major international competitions in the country.

A professional skilled team is working hard to ensure that all of the athletes, from the winner till the last finisher, will have an unforgettable experience, as well as for their supporters. In order to allow more athletes to experience the Israman, we continue with the relay race, in which each athlete participates in one leg of the race (just swim, bike or run). We can even help you find partners to compose a team. More information can be found in the relay pages on this site.

Eilat in January, with its variety of recreational options and the relatively warm weather, makes a great opportunity to bring the whole family and friends to watch you in action. We are obligated to do everything in order to allow the spectators an easy access to the race’s hot spots and to share the Israman challenge with you.

I wish you a productive and safe training for the Israman 2014.
Sincerely yours,
Boaz Ribak – Race Director.

Course Swim
Start and finish point- at the Royal Beach.
The swimming course will be clockwise, in a square path, bounded with buoys – 1,900 meters long. The first and longest swimming section, to the south – east, will pass by the pier of the eastern lagoon, in order to allow the public to cheer the swimmers at the end of the pier, from up close. The full distance participants will swim the course twice. At the end of the first lap they will exit the water, pass on the \"timing carpet\" before starting the second lap.

T1
The transition area will be located at the back of the \"Sport\" hotel. The running distance from the beach to the transition area is approximately 400 meters.

Bike
According to the Israman tradition, the cycling will take place on route no.12, featuring the steep climb to the surrounding mountains and the rolling-hills route overlooking the Gulf of Eilat and the Arava Valley - a region known for its gustily wind. The course begins at the ’Sport Club’ hotel, goes along the Airport bypass road, continues to the northern Eilat bypass road to the Shachmon Square and then on to Route 12. At the ’Sayarim’ Junction, about 53 km from the beginning of the cycling course, riders will perform a U-turn and return the same way up to T2. Participants of the half distance race will get off the bikes (after approximately 91.4km), while the full distance participants will perform another U-turn and cycle another 44.3km each direction (the second turn will take place about 2 km before the ’Ovda’ airport ), in order to complete the cycling distance of exactly 180 km.

T2
The transition area will be located at the junction point of road no.12 and the Israel National Trail, at the foot of Mount ’Yoash’. (The bikes and transition bags will be transported back to T1 by the Israman team)

Run
The 2013 running course has been approved by the police; however, some changes may occur due to slight construction work done along certain sections on the course. The running course begins with exiting the transition area and descends along road 12 towards the city of Eilat until it arrives to Shahmon circle. After crossing the circle, the Full Israman runners continue their descent along the Ha’gai road, while the Half Israman runners turn south and continue till the third round-about, there they do a U turn and return to the Full Israman runners course. The course continues through the streets and through Ha’gai road, Hativat Ha’negev boulevard and Argaman boulevard till they reach the Meridian circle.
From the Meridian circle, the course continues south along the pedestrian path on the eastern side of the road to Taba, till the southern turning point, just before the Dolphin Reef, and back to Meridian circle. The course continues along Durban Rd until it enters the northern entrance of Tarshish St. and from there to the western corner of the large bridge. The course surrounds the lagoon until the eastern corner of the large bridge. From there on, the course continues along the promenaden at the foot of the southern wall of the Royal Beach hotel until the parking lot between the hotel and Dan hotel. At the parking lot, the course turns north and circles the Royal Beach hotel. the Half Israman runners turn towards the Finish gate that is situated at the front of the Royal Garden hotel, while the Full Israman runners continue to circle the Royal Beach hotel and continue to run 2 more laps along the same course until the southern turning point.

Finish Line
At the entrance to Royal Garden Hotel. The last 100 meters of the running course are in the English U-shape to allow families and supporters to join their loved ones in the finish celebration.
